Suzanne

Hello everyone,

With the help of tutorial in a website called, blendernerd.com, today I decided to work with something called 'Suzanne' which is a prototype model already inside the blender program.

I also heard that the purpose of Suzanne is to test materials and lighting for blender.

Anyways, for those of you who does not know what is Suzanne...:

A very cute monkey.

Now, I'll try to place Suzanne in the blender.

Now, if I render this...

I get this result. Looks like it is too dark. Let's make the surrounding bit brighter.

Now, as there is light, lets start working with some colors.

Looks like some kind of Caramel monkey... Looks sweet.

Now, I decided to add some more details such as reflection to Suzanne.
As a result, it looks like it gives more realistic result.

Final Render

So far, I was experimenting with materials and lighting using Suzanne, Suzanne does really help me to experiment with variety of materials and lighting.
The rendering I used today is Blender Render, which comes with the Blender originally. The previous renderings that I posted are all done with Cycles Rendering.

Blender Logo

This time, I decided to try somewhat more difficult polygon for my blender modeling.

Hence, I decided to use the blender logo and create that in 3D.

By using the bézier curve tool, I traced the basic shape the of the logo, and extruded the shape.

The final outcome of the logo seems very nice and neat, however it looks like lighting needs some more work.

Hence, I tried to illuminate the environment. The results looks pretty good.

This time, instead of using an opaque surface as a material for my modeling, I decided to experiment more variety of materials by using the glass and glossy options.

Looking at the result, I personally like the opaque finish of the model, however the transparent glass effect modeling seems to have its unique visual effect.

Glass Vase Experiment

This time, I decided to work with more complex shape.

Final result.

The actual modeling process was not that difficult, however I faced few difficulties adjusting the light system to the scene.

Glossy Marble

This time, instead of using a cube as a basic shape, I decided to use a sphere.

Looks like the marble seems to come out neatly.

The concepts that I tried to apply for this work were 'solitude' and 'minimalism', as minimalism is a concept which makes a result looks pretty good without difficulties. Hence, it did not take a long to create this photo - I just had to create 3 objects: Sphere, the Floor and the lighting device.

Box Composition Experiment

This is a box composition done with Blender program (which I think took about 1 hour).
I was first inspired by this photo (which is done by my brother with blender as well):

Box - by Heui Sung Kim

Looks like there are lots of room for improvement, such as glare composition, Blur, Depth of field and blooming.

Box Experiment

Using a program called Blender, I've tried to experiment what I could do with a basic cube.

As we can see, there are few areas with some noise. Therefore, I decided to remove those noise by giving more time to render.
